OBITUARY

william john devin The death occurred yesterday, following a lengthy illness of William John Devin, who has been a resident of Rotorua for about twelve years. Deceased was born at Devonport in 1873, and followed the profession ' of a tailor in Auckland, - Te ■ Awamutu, W ellington and' "Whakatane, before eoming to Rotorua where he has heen associated with his wife in the control of Surrey House. _ He was interested in racing and various sports and also took a keen interest in the progress of the Rotorua High School/ During his residence. in th,e town he made many friends by his kindly and quiet disposition. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. : Hily Jane Devin, four daughters, one son, a step-son and 17 grand children. One son, Riehard, is at present training for the New Zealand Air Force at Sockburn, Christchurch.
