MONTHLY MEETING REPORT TO BE SECURED REGARDING HEATING SYSTEM HEAD:MASTER'S REPORT The monthly meeting of the Rotorua High School Bo;ard was held last evening there being' present Mr. R. B. Nesbitt (chairman), Archdeacon F. W. Chatterton, Messrs II. Goudie, O. H. Coleman. H. M. Martin, J. D. Davys (secretary) and 'W. G. Harwood (headmaster). It was decided to authorise the construction of two cupboards with glass floors to house several cups which have heen presented to the school. Heating Sytstem The chairman reported that while in Auckland recently he had interviewed the heating engineer of a well known firm in regard to the convers.ion of the heating system in the school to one of the most modern systems. He had been told that sueh a system could probably he installed hy conversion of the present system and that a report could he prepared with little cost to the board. Mr. Coleman stated that if the board had the funds available to complete the alterations during the present year the report should be ob4»ined, but -that if it had not the money no good purpose would be served by securing the report at the present time. He also considered that the cost of such a report should he borne by the company concerned. Mr. Goudie considered that as the department would he connected it would be ultimately necessary for the board to supply it with estimates of the cost. As memhers had no idea of the approximate cost at present, the report suggested would give them this information. He thought that the matter should he dealt with at the earliest possible date. On the motion of the chairman if was decided to ask the engineer to supply the report to be submitted to the building committee for consideration. •• • Headmaster's Report The following report on the work of the school since the previous meeting was presented hy the headmaster, Mr. W. G. Harwood. - -• The prevalence of measles and infiujpnza has seriously affected the attendance during the last month, while some members of the staff have also been off duty for two or three days. The annual inspection of the Cadet Companiy was carried out by Col j". E. Duigan, O.C. Northern Command, on Friday, November 3. Agriculture: I have to record the visit of the agriculture class to Mr. E. Earle Vaile's property at Broadlands on Saturday, November 11. Shooting.— Although no competition results are yet to hand the school has this year put up performances in the "Weekly Press and Imperial Challenge Shield Competitions ahead of any of its past performances. I have to record with deep gratitude, the presentation by Mr. H. Hardeastle of a fine cup for House competition in shooting. This brings the total number of cups possessed by the school up to twenty, and I would like the board to consider the question of suitably housing these trophies. •Parents' Association. — The fiinal meeting of the Parents' Association for the year will he held on Thursday, December 7, at 7.30 p.m. at the school.
