A GIRL DIVINER
WATER FOUND ON FARMS. A 17-year-old Gloucester (England) girl possessing remarkable powers as a water-diviner has proved a saviour to drought-stricken farmers in that area. She is Joyce Prbsser, a seamstress. She located hidden supplies of water for six or seven farmers who, in desperation, had. sought her help. Joyce uses h'azel and withy sticks, pieces of wii*e, and even clock spri'ngs which twist and turn into fantastic j shapes when held hy her over a watercourse. She can also divine such minerals as coal, iron, and gold. Not long ago she located buried gold in an old house near Gloucester. After reading a history of the house, in which reference Avas made to a buried hoard of 'gold, the owner invited her to test her powers. She located the gold under a cellar floor. The girl found that she had th'e powers of divination by accident some years ago while staying with an aunt .at Eynsham, Oxfordshire. She was playing with a rod left behind hy a professional diviner and found that when she stood over the spot where he had located water the rod twisted in her hands, as it had done in his. Since th'en she has taken part in many highly successful experiments.
