HEAVY FROST
SERIOUS DAMAGE DONE TO SOUTHERN CROPS Christchurch, Thursday. A late frost varying in severity, was recorded throughout North Canterbury this morning. . Five degrees in Christchurch caused minor damage to potatoes and tomatoes in exposed plaqes. ..Eight -degrees in the vicinity ' of • Kaiapoi and Rangiora blackened hundreds of acres of potatoes, beans and tomatoes, eausing extefisive loss. Friti't seems to have esfiaped.
