COMING OF AGE

TWENTY -FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY. FOR MISS ROMA STEELE. Another of Rotorua's populiar daughters to win her golden latchkey was Miss Roma Steele, whose parehts, Mr. and Mrs. D. WL 'Steele, celebrated the event by giving a vefy jolly dance at the Majestic Ballroom last Mondiay evening. As the guests arrived they were received by Mrs. Steele, who was wearing a black georgette evening gown with a black panne velvet coatee relieved with white fox fur trimmings. Miss Roma Steele wore a dainty frock of emerald coin spot net with frilled sleeves of green georgette to tone. The supper-room h'ad been attractively decorated for the occasio'n with rose pink and green streamers, while the same colour scheme was carried out on the tables in a lattice effect interspersed with bowls of irises and iceland poppies. A feature of the supper was the beiautiful pink and mauve birthday cake, respendent with its twenty-one candles and which had the place of honour in the centre of the main table. iDuring supper toasts were proposed by Mr. A. Downer, Mr. G. Steele and Mr. Lohden, and Mr. Duncan Steele briefly' responded. Vocial items given by Mrs. Bonnington, Miss R. Owens and Mr. Wickcliffe were very much enjoyed, and a Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss Violet Steel and Mr. F. Bramley. Among' the guests present were: — Mrs. G. Steele, Mrs. A. Steele, Mrs. J.
