JOINT SELECT COMMITTEE RE-CONSTITUTED BY COMMONS

Rec. 7.50 p.m. London, Nov. 23. The House of Commons carried Without a division, a motion by Mr. R. A. Butler, Parliamentary undersecretary for India, to re-constitute the Joint Select Committee on Indian Affairs and to empower it to continue its present work. The Secretary of State for India, Sir Samuel Hoare, said that all the issues raised had been carefully considered and as pracvtieal men of goodwill anxious to proceed by cooperation and not coercion, it would be better to allow experienced and 1'esponsible people like the members of the Joint Committee to proceed bnhampered.
