Tipping Whey on Road
To tip whey on a public road is an offence. In the Opunake Magistrate's Gourt N. Simpson pleaded guilty to such a charge. Mr. A. A. Bennett, who appeared for the county inspector, stated that the practice of tipping whey on the roiad was hecoming prevalent, and the case was brought as a warning. He did not press for a heavy penalty, but pointed out that whey not only created a most unpleasiant odour, but also polluted the water so that the stock would not drink it. Simpson was convicted and ordered to pay £1 13s costs.
