WOMEN'S INSITUTE
SECOND BIRTHDAY PARTY To celebrate the second birthday of the Mamaku branch of the Women's Institute, the Regents Hall was packed to "full house" last week. The hall was decorated with pungas ferns and bush daisies, and the president, Mrs. Bernnan, assisted hy Mrs, B. Thome, aeted as M.-C. Music was supplied by Miss G. Brennan and Mr McGuire. During the evening songs were sung by Miss N. Brennan, and Miss G. Brenan and a Monte Carlo waltz resulted in Mr. H. Daldy and Miss Gwen Daldy winning the prizes. A play "Oh, Mr. Smith" was very well received, the characters heing, Mr. Smith, Mr. Clyde Duncan; Mrs. Smith, Mrs. R. Whitefield; Mrs. Sharpe, Mrs. Treeweek; Miss Sparke ,Miss O'lga Wjhitefield; Mrs. Green, Mrs. Powless, and Miss Blake-Wilson, Mrs. B. Thome. The part taken by Mr. Duncan was very well acted, and upon his re-ap-pearance in the dance hall ,he was given a hearty round of applause. A large birthday cake, decorated with "Mamaku Wlomen's Institute" was cut by the president , and eiach guest presenit received a piece. There were about two hundred and fifty present wbo appreciated the programme which was well sprinkled with "Log Cabins". Arrangements are heing made to hold a hazaar in aid of institute funds early in December. Any person who would eare to donate articles to various stalls, should send them to the secretary, P.O1. Mamaku.
