(Rec. 5.5 p.m.) California, November 16 Mr. Brooke Hart, 22 years of age, a graduate of the University of St. Clara and the son of a wealthy family, was kidnapped and Jcilled last Thursday hy two men, 0ne of whom allegedly confessed fcoday. Thomas Thurmond, the man who confessed, implieated Jack Holmes, an unemployed petrol worker. According to the story purported to be told by Thurmond, Mr. Hart was seized shortly after he left the family departmental store to meet his father at a city club. The kidnappers f orced the youth to drive them .to an isolated spot, where his arms were pinjoned. He was struck on the head with a brick and then his trussed body was thrown into the water from a hridge. Thurmond and his accomplice then drove to S'an Francisco, where they telephoned Mr. Hart's home and denianded 40,000 dollars ransom. The body of the victim has not yet been recovered. The authorities indicated that fear of detection prompted the murder.
