LAKE LEVEL
COUNCIL SUB-COMM1TTEE TO INTERVIEW PJW.D. ENGINEER REPLY FROM MINISTER "I feel that this is quite unsatisfactory. The reasons given, while they may be siatisfactory to the engineers who compiled the report, are not satisfactory to us as laynran. I think the matter should be further investigated and some other means adopted besides those which they appear to consider ,are the only ones possible. Personally, I an satisfied that it is possible to raise the level of Lake Rotorua from this end of the channel without changing the level of Lake Rotoiti at all," said the Mia.yor (Mr. T. Jackson) at last evening's meeting of the Rotorua Borough Council when referring to a letter from the Public Wjorks Department stating that it was considered impractic, alble to raise the level of Lake .Rotorua by erecting a weir in Lake Rotoiti. The general opinion expressed was that the council should move further in the matter and it was decided to set up a sub-committee consisting of the Mayor, Crs. Goodson and W]ackrow to confer with the engineer of the Public Works Department in regard to the position.
