GISBORNE PROTESTS
(Special to "Post.")
FUNDS NOT EXHAUSTED
Gisborne, Wednesday. A mass meeting of relief workers, their wives and families assembled at the Cook Hospital to-day to seek assistance from the -hospital- board as a result of hardships due to the revised allocation for relief work. A deputation from the unemployed met a committee of the board, which promised relief in necessitous cases, the acting-chairman stating, however, that it was for the last time. During- the morning, a largely attended meeting of businessmen, representing practically all the- employ- i ers of the town; was also held to consider "the refusal of the Minister of Employment to increase the alloca-
tion to Gisborne for relief purposes. It was contended by several speakers that any suggestion that relief funds were exhausted was ridieulous. It was finally decided to communicate with the mayors of others provincial towns affected by the cut with a view to a joint deputation proceeding to Wellington to wait on the Minister. ■ . ■ • '
