Thresher Shark’s Win

The fight between a shark and a sea monster witnessed off New Plymouth a few days ago has been recalled hy the discovery of a large sea mammal washed up on the heach between Wlaihi and Ohawe, near Hawera. It was at first thought to he a whale, hut closer examination proved it to be the dolphin type. It is nearly 30ft long and is badly scarred. It is hfelieved the monster is the one seen in the fight with a thresher sharlc off Moturoa and that it ultimately fell a victim to the shark's attack. The hattle was seen raging for threequarters of an hour and finally- the two monsters disappeared ^ hehind Saddleback Island. At th'e time the Opinion was expressed that the fight Would continue for prabably two or three days until either the whale was overcome ox* the thresher ■ withdfew from exhaustion.
