GOOD SPORT REPORTED IN VARIOUS LAKES
(Snecial to
Christchurch, Monday ! Though the Canterbury lake fishing j season, which opened on November 1, I is young as yst, good sport lias been obtained by several parties, at Lake Coleridge and Lake Lyndon in particular. The best single bag so far reported from Coleridge was one of seven fish. There has been ene of five fish, and the angler who has failed to secure .one fish has been unluclcy. The seven were taken in two days, on the artificial minnow. The catches have been fairly evenly divided between rainbow trout and salmon of Coleridge's land-locked variety. Lake Lyndon has been yielding good fish up to 31b in weight. Over 31b the fish have not been in the best of condition. There is plenty of time for them to improve, however. Flies proving effective at Eyndon are Watson's Fancy, Claret and Mallard, Black Gnat and Demon. Not many fish have been taken from Lake Georgina, for conditions have been against anglers. The lake is limited to fly fishing, and a continuous nor'-wester has made it unfishable. It is considered that prospects for the remainder of the lake fishing season are good.
