FARMER FALLS ON STUMP AND RECEIVES SERIOUS INJURIES

Hawera, Monday. Edward Thomas, middle-aged, an Okaiawa farmer, died in the Hawera Hospital yesterday as the result of a tree-felling accident ahout ten days ago. It is understood that Mr. Thomas, in company with other men, was felling trees on his farm when a rope broke, and while getting out of the way he stumbled and f ell on a stump. A doctor was called, but Mr. Thomas failed to respond to treatment and wafe removed to Hawera on Friday. An operation was performed. Mr. Thomas leaves a widow and eight children.
