LABOUR AMENDMENT

DEFEATED BY NINE VOTES AND IMPREST BILL PASSED Wellington, Friday. The Labour amendment to the Imprest Supply Bill was defeated by 32 votes to 23 in the House of Representatives and the Bill, which provides for appropriations totalling £5,881,350, was passed through all stages by 5.40 a.m. Replying to the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. M. J. S'avage, the Minister of Finance, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, said there were no unusual appropriations. The amounts included were simply the usual sums to comply with the country's requirements.
