Paris, Octoiber 24. Forty wer;e killed in the derailmerit of the Cherbourg-Paris express near Couches, 70 miles from Paris. The express Avas crossing a viaduct over a small river, when it left the rails. It was travelling at a high speed. The engine, tender, guard's yan and three coaches crashed over a parapet and fell 30 feet, being shattered to, matchwood. The telegraph wires were cut and I the line blocfced. ; It is understood that no British or Americans were among the casualties. A massage from Evereux states that at least 30 were Mlled, 34 seriously injured and 60 sldghtly injured ibesides those in two carriages lying in the riverbed.
