I The Depression and Mental Disorder ! In a part of his annual report dealj ing with the causation of mental dis- . order, Dr. Theo. G. Gray, DirectorI General of Mental Hospitals, says: — i "One would be tempted to expect that j the distress arising from the prevailing economic difficulties would be rei flected in an increase in our admisj sions. Actually the total admissions, | including voluntary boarders, are ten less than in the previous year, and one can only surmise that the spirit of altruism, whieh is always at j its height at periods of national dangj er and anxiety, is working as it did ! during the war years. The great oc- ! casion is one of real stresses whieh i leave no room for petty vanities, and ! morbid imaginings and introspections ; there is a call to action, an exaltation of the community spirit and a selfdiseipline whieh tends to sanity."
