confusion regarding sydney bridge victim NOT NEW ZEALANDER
. — By Telegraph — Copyright).
Sydney, Oct. 18. A strange set of circumstances is associated with the identity of the harbour bridge victim on September 24 of last year. . They involve a New Zealander, George Williams (57), of Papakura. A battered body found on the concrete road beneath the bridge was identified as that of Williams. However, Mrs. Williams, who is in New Zealand, npon being communicated with, was unable to reconcile the description with that of her husband and Leslie Dunlop, who identified the body as that of Williams, cannot be traced. It is now believed — in fact claimed — that the body was that of William Lehane, a retired sugar cane worker, who was in ill-health at that time. He had stated that if he contemplated suicide he would throw himself over the bridge to the concrete below "and make a proper job of it." He was last seen on the very day the tragedy occurred wherewith Williams is linked. Lehane's relatives, who declare he i possessed a considerable sum of money in the bank, are now C9nsidering the question of the administration of his estate.
