As a result Equipoise has been ordered out of training into retirement, while Winooka, if the winner at Laurel on Eriday, will be offered a test against high-class sprinters in the United Hunts meeting at Belmont Park early in November for a 5000 dollar prize and trophy. As Mr. Whitney required a definite answer by Oetober 16 regarding the proposed race with Equipoise at Belmont Park on November 7, distance one mile, weight 8st 81b, Mr. Naylor replied stating that the eonditions were not jacceptable. Mr. Naylor as a final concession, said he would agree to 9st., but definitely would not extend beyond seven furlongs. He adds: "Let the sporting world judge between Ps." Winooka's race on Friday is attracting interest. It is lilcely his opponents will be Jamestown, Character, and Goldstep,^ with Jamestown as the probable favourite.
