THIRD FLOOR OF BIG BUSINESS BUILDING GUTTED EXPLOSION FELT

Auckland, Monday. A fire in the city late to-night gutted the third fioor of a five storied building at the corner of Albert and Durham Streets occupied by Reid and Twinam, manufacturers and importers and by S. A. Smith and Co., manufacturers' agents. An explosion on the fioor preeeded the flames which blew out the corner windows. The brigade had just checked this outbreak when another oceurred elsewhere on the same fioor. The fire was finally got under control just beforemidnight.
