STILL UNSOLVED

MUCH INTEREST AROUSED , Auckland, Monday. Without any apparent motive, the murder remains a deeply puzzling problem. Information flooded into the Central Police Station throughout the day and there was every indication that intense public concern and interest has been aroused over the extraordinary crime. Much of the information given to the police had to do with men' seen in the vicinity at varying hours of the night. As a result the detectives and constables were given- a very wide scope for their inquiries. Hopes of identifying the assailant are held out by the investigators as a result of the investigation of finger-prints found on the vehicle. A remarkably thorough search was made and a number of prints, especially those found on the doors of the car were recorded. The car was also examined thoroughly for possible clues. There were fragments of bark found in the back seat which indicated that a piece of timber may have been employed as the weapon. The bark, however, could easily have been in the cab for a considerable time.
