Miss Rutherford beat Mrs. McCarthy, 5 and 4. Mrs. Blain beat Mrs. Rota, 4 and 2. Miss Grace beat Miss "Wilson, 1 up. Miss 0. Kay beat Miss Johnston, 7 and 6. Miss Barns-Graham beat Miss Bljffh, 5 and 4. Miss Ormond beat Mrs. Thomson, 3 and 2. Mrs. Grace beat Miss Holmes, 2 and 1.
Some Close Contests The weather was fine, but dull. In the second round of the championship Mrs. Guy Williams and Mrs. Johnston had an even game. The latter won the first hole; Mrs. Williams took the next three and was three up at the turn. Mrs. Johnston squared the game at the seventeenth, but Mrs. Williams won the next and the game. Miss Helean and Miss Hansen had a strenuous tussle. At the turn Miss Hansen was three up. Miss Hansen was doing two at the sixteenth, but Miss Helean took the next two. The nineteenth was halved, and the local lady won the twentieth and the match. Miss Kay was in brilliant form in her mathh with Miss Johnston. She went out in bogey. and coming home did 3, 4, 3. 4, and for 13 holes was two under bogey. Miss; Grace won her match with Miss Wilson, the game going to the last hole. Mrs. Macfarlane had an easy win against Miss Harkness, the match ending at the twelfth. Mrs. Collinson showed excellent form in her "match against Miss White Parsons, and on her play to-day should be hard to beat for the title. Miss Gaisford was two down at the turn in her match with Miss Fleming, but won four in a row. On the return Miss Fleming took the sixteenth, the next was halved, Miss Gaisford winning the eighteenth andthe game. Championship Foursomes In the championship foursomes contest the title-holders, Miss B. Gaisford and Miss 0. Kay, had to bow to defeat, the best card being returned by Mrs. Williams and Miss Barns-Graham, with a gross 82. THe next best scores were as follow: — Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Butler, 84; Miss James and Miss Hornabrook*
84; Miss Dyer and Miss Ward, 86; Mrs. Stout and Mrs. Orbell, 86. Handicap Foursome The handicap foursome played in conjunction with the championship was won by Misses James and Hornabrook with 84 — 10 — 74. The next best were Misses Dyer and Ward, 86 —11—75.
