EIGHT WOMEN SUFFER BROKEN BONES AND SHOCK VEHICLE CATCHES FIRE

(Rec. 8.10 p.m.) Melbourne, October 13 A service car containing thirteen women passengers, mostly for Canberra, struck a concrete culvert near Wallan, overturned and caught fire. All the passengers were extricated before the flames reaehed them. Eight women were injured, the majority with broken bones and the remainder being severly shaken. The driver sustained facial injuries. The accident was due to the bursting of a tyre, causing the vehiele to swerve and strike the culvert with terrific force.
