Young, who is aged 16, and Smith, and they saw a spectacular ba'ttle. The fact that four was "not" good enough to win any hole in the homeward journey indicates the high standard of play. Young, who is very small, certainly qppears to be a golfing prodigy. The amateur matches resulted 'in the elimination of Hornabrook, who failed to show the mercurial quality of his play yesterday, and tif tho outstanding figure in New Zealand golf, Arthur Duncan. Coltman found Black too strong, and acknowledged defeat after the 16th. He lost many opportunities on the greens. Good From Start to Finish Wright, who beat Duncan, promises to be one of the most difficult contenders for the title. Though fortune was on his side this morning his figures were good from start to finish. Against Hornabrook Ross displayed all his old vigour. There did not appear to be a weak spot in his bag. His putting was excellent and his tee shots never left the fairway.
