-By Telegraph— Copyright).
Sydney, October 10. The Australian Press Association Bradford .correspondent reports that the, question of the unsuitability of New Zealand Romney wool is agaili arousing attention following experiments carried out on a Scotch estate with Co-'rriedales. Yorkshire manufacturers have been reeommending the cultivation of this latter breed in New Zealand for some time. One expert declares that. the New Zealand Romney wool is "absolutely unsuitable foi* our purpose. It varies ip. thickness and is. so badly bred that it loses the bulk of its spinning properties which is a very serious thing in the West Riding where business has been founded upon the crossbred wool." A number of Corriedales bro.ught to Wembly from New Zealand have been used for breeding experiments with good results. The wool irpproved and a good carcase has been produee,d with an. average addition of 21bs of wool per sheep. Samples of Romney and Corriedale wools, showing the e.ssential differences between them are being brought under tbe notice of the New Zealand growers.
