1 Destruction of Bush Mr/C. H. Clinkard, M.P., has been' advised by tbe Minister dn Charge of Tourist and Publicity (Hon. Adam Hamilton) that the question of the destruction of bush on the RotoruaWaikaremoana Road has been referred for investigation. to the Lands and Survey Department. Mr. Hamilton has undertaken that so soon as a report is reeeived^he "will again communicate with Mr. Clinkard. Wrestling Arrangements ai'e well in train for the big Rumherg v. Varga wrestling ma.tch which takes place in the stadipm to-morrow night. Sptcial attention has been paid "to the seating accdmmodation and the ring side Seats have been raised. More room has been provided around the ring itself. Already good bookings have been received and many country visitors are expected. The match is one of the best offering in New Zealand Lo-day and ■in addition special preliminaries have been arranged. The- well known Auckland referee, Mr. Sidford, will have charge of the bout. Ladies' Golf Cup The donation of a silver cup by the club eaptain, Mr. A. V. Merriman, as a trophy for the ladies' f club championship, was announced at a meeting of the Motutara Golf Club exeeutive last evening. The donor was thanked for his generosity by the president, Mr. C. R. Tapper. Metalling of Roads The assistant-district ehgineer, Public Works Department, Mr. F. Park, has received authority for the metalling of a number of roads in the Rotorua County. It is prohahle that relief labour will bp employed and the work commeneed very shortly. Members' Subscriptions The 'problem of how to ensure the prompt payment of members' subscriptions was diseussed at length at a meeting of the executive of the Morrinsville A. and P. Society. Finally it was resolved. to recommend to a special general meeting of the society that no members' ticlcets be supplied wherei the previous year's subscription is in arrears. Entries for Golf Competition It was decided last evening by the executive of the Motutara Golf Club to invite entries from lady players for a knock-out competition for the Goldwater Trophy. Entries will close with' the seeretary, Mr. L. Fisher, on October 7. Additions to Show Building A start was made this week with the erection of an annexe to the A. and P. show building for the purpose of provision of a supper-room and a poultry wing for show purposes. When completed, the supper-room will accommodate 250 persons. Summer Time The Summer Time Act, 1929, will become operative in New Zealand this year on October 8 next, when offieial time in the Dominion will be advanced 30 minutes. The operation of the aet will continue until March 18, 1934, when standard time will be resumed. The alteration of docks will take place on each date at 2 a.m. standard time. Inter-CIub Golf The executive of the Motutara Golf Club decided last evening to accept an invitation from the Rotorua Golf Club for a team to play on the Arikikapakapa Course on October 15. A Travelied Cat The Christchurch railway station possesses a much travelied white cat. It performs its job of rat-catch-ing so well that it deserves the oceasional country holiday jaunts. Most of the day it spends, cat-fishing, sleeping in a sunny spot, but( every now and rthen it explores a guard's van gets shut in, and is carried off into the country. In this way it has gone as far afield as Leeston, but its most frequent trips have been to Lyttelton. Of incoming trains the one it knows best is - from the Islington freezing works, for the train crew provides a special tit-bit of meat for it. So well does the cat know this train and the time of its arrival that the cat is always waiting for it when it comes in.
