LARGE CHINESE FORCES ADVANCING TOWARD PEKIN japanese ultimatum

(Rec. Sept. 26) Shanghai, Sept. 25. The latest Peking mesage indicates according to Chinese sources, that approximately 35,000 Chinese troops are advancing towards Peking. General Fang Chen-Wu's xabble augumented by roving bands of bandits, occupied the town of Nui Len Shan, 35 miles from the city. The Japanese are preparing to advance whe-n the ultimatum expires. General Fang Chen-Wu plans to attack Peking, while the bandits devote their attention to Tientsin. The Peking correspondent to the Times states that for the first time since the truce a Japanese aeroplane circled over Peking on S'aturday. | Showers of leaf lets were dropped- conj taining an ultimatum to General Fang 1 Chen-Wu to leave the demilitarised zone before next Tuesday. Otherwise it was stated, the Japanese would launch a punitive expedition without further warning.
