Mitchell won by default from Mrs. Wickes; Miss Hillcoat beat Miss E. C. M]urray, 2 up; Miss J. G. Murray beat Miss Cameron, 1 up; Miss Herrick beat Miss Hislop, 5 and 3; Miss Newson beat Mrs. Davey, 5 and 3. Men, second round: — J. F. Lee beat Wi Anaru, at the 19th; F. W. Lee beat J. F. Thomas, at the 22nd. A. Mitchell beat G. White at the 19th. The draw for the ladies' second round is as follows: — Miss J. G. Murray v. Miss Te Pou Miss Newson v. Miss H. Mitchell. Miss Hillcoat v. Miss Herrick. Men, semi-finals : — - J. F. Lee v. F. W. Lee. A. Mjitchell a bye. All games must be played by Octo-
