(Rec. 7.10 p.m.) Melbourne, Sept. 22. A murder of the American gangster type Is reported at Fitzroy. James Jobn, a labourer, aged 25, was shot five times in the sjomach and chest by a man who stepped out of a car and afterwards drove away with a companion. John, who died on the pavement where he fell, was in company with a boxer named' Chrisfield when the car drove up. The bullets were -deliberately directed at John and Chrisfield was unharmed. He declares that the murderer was unknown to him.
