THE #Etek'$ MATCHES REP. TEAJil TO MEET TRAIhflNG COLLEGE YERY FIT. FIXTURES PO^TPONED.

(By '

Waratah v. Kowhai. In this game Kowhai showed much improved form on that of last week, and at times had their opponents defending hard. In the last round Kowhai managed to gain a one-point victory over Waratah, but this' time the decision wa3 reversed, the latter team definitely clinching matters by defeating Kowhai by three goals. At the commencement of the game both teams proYided some sparkling passing, their team work being smooth and efficient. The scoring at first was also even, both teams scoring alternately until Waratah" gained a two-point lead. Kowhai, at this stage, began to show a weakness in intercepting the attack on goals, hut by strenuous efforts they suceeded "in remaining only one point behind their opponents. At half- • time, the score was 6 — 5. After halftime Waratah attacked strongly and ■ with exeellent def ensive work several ' timeS prevented the Kowhai forwards from scoring. Waratah forwards lalso lost easy opportunities at scoring through' 'indulging in long', reckless goal-shooting. In the last few minutes of the game Kowhai tried hard to equalise the sc'ore, but Waratah's passing was too fast and accurate. H.S.O.S. (A) v. H.s.O.s. (B). 'The "A" team registered a runaway victory against their "B" team. Usually there is not a great deal of difference ibetween the two teams, but last week the B's did not produce their usual good form. At times they were seen to lose the advantage from good passing movements when the ball reached the forward base, the A defence eovering and intercepting too well to allow many easy shots at goal. The A team's defence and centres played a good game, while the forwards were once again shooting aecurately. The score was: H.S.O.S'. (A), 22; H.S.O.S. (B), 15. Executive Meeting. At a meeting held last Monday evtning, arrangements were finalised for the A team's departure for Auckland on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, September 23, the return game !a,gainst Training College will be played. Miss I. Street was appointed manageress of the team. It was also decided to send a B team to Opotiki on the same date and to ask Mrs. I. Shearer to accompany the team. It was brought before the committee's notice that one team had continually hroken Rule 21 of the General Rules and failed to fulfil its match engagements, thus putting other teams to a great deal of inconvenience. A motion was passed that this team be suspended until the end of the season. It was unanipaously decided to hold the association's final dance and presentation of trophies on October 18, at the Majestic Ballroom. Notes. !■ The result of the return game iagainst Training College, to be played in Auckland on Saturday, is looked forward to with interest. The Rotorua team has been in solid training since Training College's de-

parture, and under the exeellent coaching and control of Miss Street the team has been successful in working up a splendid comhinat'ion. The general feelings and hopes are that this year Rotorua will regain a little of the lost laurels of past years. Since the last executive meeting, word'has been received that four players in the B tearni will be unable to make the trip to Opotiki. As it has been impossible to replace these players at such short notice the committee has, unfortunately, been forced to cancel ail arrangements for this game. Postponement of Fixtures. As a number of players wiill be out of town next week-end, all club com'petition games will be postponed.
