FRAUDS DISCOVERED. Professor Alois Hauser, a noted German cxpert on paintings, who was formerly picture-restorer of the Prussian State Galleries, was accused last year of giving false "expert" information in return for payznent. It is now allegcd that he did so in hundreds of cases. Paintings of sznall value were, it is said, certified by hizzi as woi'ks of Rembrandt, Rubens, Hals, or Vandyck, and art dealers made a.n enorznous profit on thezn and paid him coznparatively little.
