Melbourne, Sept. 15. The amateur golf championship of Australia was won to-day by W. L. Hope (Vietoria) who defeated A. W. Jackson (Vietoria, 6 and 5 over 36 holesP This was Hope's first appearance in an Aiistralian title final. He had previously twice represented GreatBritain against the United States or the Walker Cup and had played five times or Scotland against England. He was also the first amateur in the British open championship in 1932. Jackson played his usual brilliant gam'e going out. Hope was brilliant on the green and controlled the ball splendidly in the high wind. Sloan Morpeth was eliminated on the 37th green in the quarter finals by Jackson.
