Chicago, Sept. 14. Play in the exhibition matches at Chicago was resumed to-day after heavy rain yesterday. Commencing in a drizzle of rain, W. Allison '(United States) defeated Turnbull (Australia), 6 — 3, 6 — 3, securing th'e victory with deep low drives to the base-line. F. X. Shields (U.S.A.), defeated J. Crawford • (Australia) , 5: — 7, 6 — 3, 6—2; Shields being the aggressor practically throughout. In an exhibition doubles. match Qnist and Turnbull (Australia) defeated Lott and Stoeffen (Unit'ed States), 1 — 6, 11 — 9, 6 — 3.
