SPEED DEMON
\ SENSATIONAL RACING STORY TO BE SHOWN AT THE GRAND. COMMENCING MONDAY, "Speed Demon," the motor-boat racing story which comes to the Grand Theatre on Monday, should more than satisfy the present day 'mania for speed and still more speed. William Collier, Jr., and Joan Marsh are featured in the principal roles • of the production. Hollywood has given jaded picture audiences films dealing with aviation, lautomobile racing and every other Horm of sport, hut "Speed Demon" shows one of the most sensational events in the w'orld — a race between 'the frail speedboats and their dare'devil drivers. This thrilling sport has ^captured so many devotees in recent years that more than 500,000 persons in the U.S.A. are said to own these boafs. In making the film Lederman had the assistance as technical adviser of Rodney Pantages, one of the national outboard champions, who also drove one of the boats in the film. Other outboard champions who appear in the picture are Joe Banzi, Hersshey Reynolds and Rogei' Swartwood. "Speed Demon," 'filmed from the story by Charles Condon, shows Collier as a speedboat ra,cer who becomes involved with a group of sinister racketeers and rum runners, but is redeemed through the mutual affection of the girl who loves him, and his hig brotherly affection for a little waif. There are thrilling race scenes, numerous exciting crashes and accidhnts in the water. - ,
