SUCCESSFUL DANCE

On this occasion the event took the form of a "Nursery Rhyme and Fairy Stories" Fancy Dress Ball. The goodly number of dancers in fancy costumes made it qu:te clear that a great deal of time and ingenuity had been devoted to the making of some of the dresses. As usual at these "Pops" the whole thing went merrily and everyone appeared to be succeeding in casting dull care aside. ; The judg-ing of the costumes presented a difficult task to Mrs. H. Young; second, "Moon Witcb", Mrs. Libeau; most or-iginal costume (lady) "Hickory Dickory Dock", Mrs. Kingsland; best costume (gent.) "Wooden Soldier," Mr. J. Aitken; btst couple "Simple Simon and tbe Pieman" Miss M. Burry and Mr. Atkinson. A waltzing competition that aroused great interest was so keenly con- l tested that the judges were unable to separate the two final couples and the award was divided between Mr. and Mrs. Matheson and Mr. W. Young and Miss Young. Another item that caused a great deal of merriment was the statue waltz. This was won by Mrs. J. D. Young and Miss A. Rogers.
