BIG INCREASE REPORTED IN THE WORKMEN EMPLOYED

Ottawa, August 28. The Bureau of Statistics reported to-day that 24,000 persons were ahsorhed into Canadian industry in July. A survey of the industrial plants showed an aggregate on the payroll of 804,219 on August 1, the highest employment level for the pas'£ 12 months. In the four months, April, May, June and July 104,000 persons were added to the industrial payroll. ' Altogether it is estimated the number of unemployed in Canada has "been • reduced hy 200,000 in the past four months.
