Waikato beat Poverty Bay 18 — 13 as the result of superior goal-shooting. Southland beat Hawke's Bay 21 — 10 in a rather slow and unattractive game. South Canterbury 16/ beat Wairarapa 15, after an exciting battle, the winning goal being scored in the last minute. Marlborough 26, beat Manawatu 13. Auckland won their game in the first grade against "Canterbury, 17 14. Additional seeond grade. results: South Canterbury 13, beat Waikato 17. 1 Poverty Bay 19 beat Wairarapa 14. Marlborough 22, beat Wairoa 10. Three teams, Poverty Bay, South Canterbury and Waikato, tied for leadership in the seeond grade. This. afternoon Wellington beat Otago, 15 — 9, and won the Annie Brown Cup for runners-up in the seeond grade. North Island beat South Island, 16—11.
