GREAT CARROT CROP

Mr. Fred Holmes, of Bell Block, has grown a particularly fine crop of "Holmes Improved" carrot this year (says the Tarankai Herald). The crop is very sound and of uniform quality, and the carrots themselves are exceptional size. For instance, Mr. Holmes brought into the Herald office ' this morning three carrots of perfect shape and each weighing between five and six pounds. "Holmes Improved" was first propagated by Mr. Holmes' father, the late Mr. J. Holmes, 35 years ago, and to-day the carrot is better than ever it was, owing to the system of harvesting the seed adopted by the grower.
