BRIDGE EVENING

FOR BRIDE-TO-BE. Many useful gifts for the pantry were brought to a jolly bridge evening arranged by the Misses H. and M. Dannefaerd at their home in Ranolf Street last week for Miss Nan Holland, whose marriage takes place next Tuesday. The rooms were fragrant with spring flowers, and to receive the 'guests Miss H. Dannefaerd and Miss M. Dannefaerd wore floral ninon and. primrose taffeta and net respectively, while the guesi: of honopr was in ciel blue and beige marocain. Progressive bridge was played during th'e evening, Miss Murie! Cooney being. the winner of the. first prize. Those present were: Mrs.. M. Dan,nefaerd, Mrs. A. G. Holland, Mrs Hj. , Cooney, Mts. J. Mrs. J. Bpeer and Miss Muriel Cooney were joint hostesses at a most enjoyable "kitchen" eveni/ig given for Miss Nan Holland at the home of Mrs. A. Cooney, of Whaka Road, last Tuesday evening. Many useful kitchen articles were brought for the bride-to-be and competitions and novelty items passed a very jolly evening. Mrs. J. Speer and Miss M. Cooney, who received the guests, wore old gold crushed velvet and leaf green floral georgette respectively, while the guest of honour was in maroon figured velvet. Pink japonica and jonquils were arranged artistically in the drawing room. Winners of the various competitions were Miss Nan Holland, 'Miss Jean Pearce and Miss Gwenneth La Trobe Hill.
