Bitchener) last evening iji the borough council chambers, the Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, extended a welcome to Mr. Bitchener on the occasion of his first official visit to. Rotorua and also took the opporfcunity of eongratulating him upon taking over the portfolio of Public Works. The Minister, in reply thanked tffe mayor for his welcome and said that he had been most interested in. his visit qs this was his first glimpse qf Rotorua -in his private as well as his official capacity. To-day he. will visit Whakarewarewa again and will thqn leave to inspect the Galatea , estate breaking the journey for .lunch at Waiotapu.
