The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, reports: — At Westfield, beef was penned in average numbers and met a steady demand, which improved as the sale advanced, with values firm at late rates. Extra choice ox sold to 20s per 1001b.; choice and prime, 16s tol8s; secondary and plain, 13s to 15s; prime young cow and heifer beef, 16s to 19s; secondary, 12s to 15s. No extra heavy prime steers were penned. Heavy brought £6 7s 6d to £7 15s; lighter, £5 to £6 5s; light, £4 to £4 17s 6d; small and unfinished £3 to £3 17s 6d; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £5 10s to £6 10s; heavy, £4 ls to £5 5s; lighter, £3 10s to £4 7s 6d; light, £2 10s to £3 7s 6d; others, 22s 6d to 47s 6d.
