MAY BE EXTENDED TO PORK AND BONELESS BEEF BIG OVER PRODUCTION

Wellington, Wednesday There is a possibility that the restoration of beef exports from New Zealand to Great Britain will be extended to boneless beef in bags in which there is at present a considerable trade, particularly with Glasgow. It is also stated that the Meat Control Board has been asked to supply a detailed estimate of the monthly exports of pork from New Zealand to the United Kingdom and that there is a possibility that a restriction will be imposed in this class of export also. With l'egard to pig products, the British Government undertook in the Ottawa agreements, that "a reasonable share" would be given to New Zealand of the additional trade made possible by the reduction of foreign imports. The shipments of pork to the United Kingdom during the ten months of the current season to July 31, were 196,312 carcases compared with 118,375 carcases for. the corresponding period of last season, making a reduction pf 77,937 carcases or over 65 per cent. Killings of pork. totalled Sll,^?^ carcases compared with 147,526 last year, oi\an increase of 163,I 949 carcases.
