Christchurch, Sunday. The hody of Samuel Edward Russell, the . Christchurch Training .College student. who was lost on.Avalaixch'e Peak in Arthur's Pass on July 20, was found hy a party of searchers this morning. . The body was lying under. seven feet of snow. It is thought that death must have been almost instantaneous. A large party of clinxbers was able to conxmence the search on Saturday. Leaving the township at Arthur's Pass early in the morning, they carried out a c.are.ful search ovex* the snow slide which enveloped Russell and whjch covered an area of 150yds by 90yds but no trace of the body was found. The party returned at 4 p.m. hut when the search was continued early this nxorning, the body was ' found after half an hoxir's seax-ch. No di.fficuity was expex-ienced in hriniging the body back to Arthur's Pass where it was placed on a train to .Christchurch. It is understood that the burial will .take . piace at Dunedin where the late Mr. Russell's parents reside. The search party will return frqm the Pass at 8 o'clock to-night.
