DISTRIBUTORS OF LEAFLETS TO BE SHOT WITHOUT TRIAL retaliation on" austria

Berlin, Aug. 4. The secret police have arrested a number of Austrians, 20 of whom have been ordered to leave the coun-ti-y, as an act of retaliation against the arrest of five German newspaper representatives including Franz Riedel, of "Germania" (who was sent to gaol for 14 days) in Austria for sending articles to their papers attacking the Austrian Government. The Nazis announce that persons distributing pamphlets or leaflets against the Government are liable to be sbot by the police or the "Brown Shirts" without trial. The Prefect of Police has ordered liis force to nip in the bud, if necessary by the ruthless use of firearms, every attempt of Communist elements to circulate propaganda. Dr. Mueller, Herr Hitler's friend and adviser on Church affairs, has I'^een appointed Evangelical Bishop of Prussia.
