JUSTICE ADAMS LEAVES BENCH AFTER TWELVE YEARS

Wellington, Thursday. His Elonour, Mr. Justice Adams, re- : tired from the Supreme Court Bench to-day, after 12 years' service. , Hon. A. S. Adams was born at Taieri Mouth in 1861. He entered the office of Mr. J. A. D. Adams at Dunedin in 1874, and became a barrister and solicitor in 1883. He practised with his brother until 1910. He v/as president of the Council of Churches in 1903-4, president of the New Zealand Baptist Union in 19056. He was also an ex-president of the New Zealand Alliance and the Otago No-License Committee. In 1908 Mr. Adams contested the Dunedin seat in the Parliamentary election. He was appointed Crown Solicitor ( in Dunedin in 1920, and was elevated to the Supreme Court Bench in" 1921.
