RIFLE SHOOTING
(RANGITAIKI TEAMS SHOOT FOR OPOTIKI CHALLENGE STAR MATCH AGAINST TAURANGA The Rangitaiki B team recently issued a challenge to the Rangitaiki A team, holders of the Opotiki Challenge Star for teams of 4 men aside open to rifle clubs situated in the Bay of Plenty. The weather conditions were unfavourable, the wind Teaching gale force at times. The B team were successful in regaining the star after an exciting contest by a margin of three points. A trophy presented by Mr. J. Rutherford for the highest scorer of the "star" teams match was won by Mr. C. J. Fleming with the very fine score of 97. The scores were as follows. —
A nlie match was held in Tauranga on Wednesday July 26, between teams representing the Rangitaiki and Tauranga Rifle Clubs. The weather was beautifully fine. Teams consisted of seven men aside. Conditions
were 10 shots at 200 and 500 yards. Many of the leading shots of either club were unable to attend the match. Tauranga won by the narrow margin of eight points. The Rangitaiki team thoroughly enjoyed the day's outing. Followine* are the srnres • — '
