Wellington, Wednesday A verdict of not guilty was returned by the jury in the Supreme Court to-day in the case of Robert Adams, ships fireman, aged 30 years, charged with common assault. The case arose out of the recent shipping strike, it being alleged that accused went into a restaurant and struck a man in the f ace with a plate. Giving his evidence accused said that several men were outside the restaurant and that he was told by them that. there were several "scabs" inside He said he knew the proprietor and would go in and see. As he was coming out of the restaurant a smash occurred but be had no hand in it.
