WOLF CUBS

SILVER

WOLF.

EXPLANATION OF PROMISES EMBODIED IN CUB LAW WEEKLY LETTER Dear Cubs, — Now for the first part of your promise: As the Chief Scout says, "To I be loyal to God means never to fori get God, but to remember Him in everything you do. If, when you are doing something wrong you remember God, you will stop doing it. "You ought to thank God for anything you have enjoyed whether it is for your dinner, or a good game, or a jolly day. God has given you the pleasure so you ought to thank I Him for it, just as you would thank anyone who gave you something you liked. "So it is not at all a difficult thing for you to do your duty to God, is it? "And now about your duty to the King. I want you to think of the British Empire as being a pack, with the King as leader of the pack — the Akela. He is the leader of the pack as a whole, although there are numbers and numbers of very big sixes in the pack under their own sixers. If the pack is to remain strong the sixes will all have to work together. If they don't the pack becomes split up and weaker and weaker. "When a whole football team is playing together under one captain you know how much more enjoyable the game is and how much better you j all play. Well, our country is just one big team, and we have all got to j play together. | "I hope that you all understand now what it means when you promise 'To do my duty to God and the King.' Remember that God comes first in the promise and that He comes first always." Yours Cubbily,
