In an interview to-day, the. Minister of Defence (Hon. JY G. Cobbe) repudiated any such suggestion. "Certainly not on my part," said the Minister when it was suggested that the voluriteer system might shortly disappear. "There is no reason for such a change," he continued. /'Recruiting has been extremely satisfactory. I gave the details of the position some weeks ago and since then small increases have taken place in thfe recruiting xYhich has been repoi'ted. As a matter of fact, some corps are already up to full strength whilfe in oUe instance, in the South Island, there are about 20 mert on the waiting list.
