REVIEW OF THE TEAM Te Arawa's first challenge game f or the Tainui-Maniapoto Cup which is to be played on Saturday, August 5, is attracting a great deal of interest. The following brief review of the players should be of interest: — B. Hataraka. — Plays for Rangitaiki Sub-Union, holders of the HurunuiApanui Shield; undoubtedly the best fullback Te Arawa has produeed for many deeades. Safe pair of hands and kicks well. E. Hohapata : — Rangitaiki SubUnion, considered to be one of the best, if not the best three-quarter in the Bay. A powerful and elusive runner and if fed with the ball will prove to be a great try getter. M. Howell: — Rangitaiki Sub-Un-ion, well known to football fans, represented Hawke's Bay two seasons as a three-quarter and five-edghth. Possesses weight and a straight runner. Tackles well and fearlessly. T. Waerea: — Rotorua Sub-Union. powerful runner with a deceptive swerve and has proved a very sound player and sound on defence. E. Howell. — Rangitaiki Sub-Union, also represented Hawke's Bay on many occasions, and a very elusive and clever five-eighth. His defensive quaiities are excellent. H. Potaka. — Te Puke Sub-union, captain of the Bay of Plenty team on many occasions, and against th6 Maori Touring Team who were defeated. Small man with plenty of football brains and triclcs. A. Solomon. — Rotorua S'ub-Union, a great front ranker and a tireless worker. Waikato representative. Joe Te Ngaio. — Rotorua Sub-Un-ion, a smart hooker, tireless worker in the loose, great tackler. G. Emery. — Rotorua Sub-Union, honest forward and worker, fairly fast for his size. W. Te Purei. — Rotorua Sub-Union, determined and powerful forward, ex-

traordinarily fast and splendid tackler. Waikato representative. P. Taiapa. — Rotorua Sub-Union, toured to Australia with a Maori representative team, always fit and a typical forward. T. Whiteley. — Rangitaiki Sub-Un-ion, good all round forward, one of the best in the Bay, dangerous in lineouts and puts every ounce in the pack. Great leader. T. Raymond. — Te Puke Sub-Union, a brilliant player in the loose and dangerous near the line. Len Mackie. — Rotorua Sub-Union, good in the loose, very handy as an extra back, tackles we.ll. Ex-Hawke's Bay representative, and has played in Australia. Reserves.; — H. Hamiora and T. Thompson, five-eighths and half, very reliable. B. Rogers and McDougall forwards, able to fill the bill.
